The society was formed on 18 November 1989 in a symposium held at Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka (AECD) presided by Professor Dr. M Shamsul Huq. The formation of Bangladesh Electronics Society is the culmination of a series of discussion meetings and symposiums for encouraging education and research of electronics and developments of electronics industries in Bangladesh.

The society endeavors to organize seminars and conferences on different areas of electronics in cooperation with universities and research institutions of the country. The society has been publishing a half yearly research journal, Journal of Bangladesh Electronics Society (ISSN 1816-1510), regularly since 1995. It has earned the acceptance of the scientists, engineers and technologists from Bangladesh and abroad.

The website of BEIS (http://www.beis.com.bd) has been updated and expanded recently. We expect that the website will be the hub of activities and centre of communications between the members of the society.
